Accessibility
These are books about disability. This website should work for everyone who wants to read about them.
What we’ve done
- We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and works with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, and TalkBack.
- Body text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute for readers with low vision.
- The Display button at the top of every page lets you enlarge text, switch to high contrast, choose a light or dark theme, and turn off animation. Your choices are remembered on your device.
- Animation is switched off automatically if your device asks for reduced motion.
- The free audiobook of Family and Disability Activism comes with a separate document of references and image descriptions.
- Every page works without JavaScript.
